For the hearts page I made hearts of many colors but my favorite is the heart with the colors Red, White, and Blue representing the colors of our Flag. I served in the Air Force for 22 years and retired 2 years ago in December and my nephew (Rocky) is serving in the Air Force now. I made this heart because when I was deployed to Iraq, my thoughts and my heart were in Colorado with my daughter and my husband, so I felt it was an appropriate symbol. Rocky is deployed and away from his family for the next several months. Recently he told me how hard the deployment is on his wife (Bethany) and how the deployed are remembered but the families are forgotten.
In addition to a note I sent her this heart and reminded her of how crucial Rocky's job is and how serving our country is so very vital to our national security. I also told her the meaning of the heart's colors and that they represent the colors of our flag. White signifies purity and innocence, Red signifies valor and bravery and Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice. Not only do our men and women deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan possess these traits but the spouses and family members do to.
It's an over used phrase, but Freedom is NOT Free; ALL our military members and their families pay the price everyday for EVERY American's Freedom.
I'm so proud of my nephew (Rocky) and my niece (Karissa) (who just joined the Navy) serving Our Country in this difficult time.
Thank you for understanding how important it was for me to put this in my blog, it's personal but it's from my heart. .
